Senior meals start up again this week
The Manchester Area Senior Citizens Council, Inc. (MASCC), is gearing up for another year of great meals and plenty of fellowship.
Senior meals are held at noon each Tuesday and Thursday during the school year, at the Emanuel United Church of Christ fellowship hall on the lower level. The first meals of the fall will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Thursday, Sept. 5. All seniors, 55 and over, are welcome to attend and lunches are $4 for seniors. Others are also invited to join the fun and may eat for just $4.50. Birthday meals are normally held each month, honoring those who are celebrating during that month! (And those 90 and better will receive their birthday luncheon for free!)
Gathering begins around 11:30 am and often continues afterward with cards, special programs, and other events geared to senior interests. Various outings are also planned during the month, which include special destinations and favorite lunch or dinner spots. Details are found in the monthly Trumpeter newsletter, which is published in both paper and online format. Contact Margaret Jacob margkarlbud@gmail.com or call 517.673.7665 to get signed up to receive the Trumpeter.
This fall, senior lunches are being prepared by a new cook, Carl, who has experience in cooking at several restaurants and holds the required food handling certifications from the health department. Come and try his tasty treats starting this Tuesday, Sept. 3.
As a general rule of thumb, if school is cancelled, then senior meals are not held.
Annual memberships in MASCC are $15 for individuals and $25 per couple. You may send your membership donation to MASCC, PO Box 31, Manchester, MI 48158.
