Thursday’s canoe sprint race results

Immediately following the River Raisin Riverfront Park dedication ceremony during Third Thursday last week, Manchester Canoe Race organizers held a sprint race to inaugurate the boat launch. They were unable to hold sprint races last spring during the canoe race because of rain, so they even had trophies available for last Thursday’s event. Pattie McCabe reported ten pairs of canoers participated and the top three finishers who were awarded trophies. First Place was awarded to Dennis and Ross Kittel. Second Place was awarded to Margaret Bialecki and Allison O’Jack. Third Place was awarded to Bruce Dettloff and Masahiro Araki. Special Thanks goes out to Dennis Kittel and David Bartley for helping to get the sprint event set up.
