The Winter Farmers Market is ready for customers to purchase healthy food needed for making meals. The location is 327 W. Main St. and the market starts this Friday, November 1. The market will be open three days a week for four hours each day. The hours are:  Thursdays 3 – 7 pm, Fridays 3 – 7 pm and Saturdays 9 am – 1 pm. The building is across the street from Emanuel United Church of Christ, just a block west of the Wurster Park gazebo.

There will be a great selection of food for healthy meals. Some vendors will have a table selling their own products, but several vendors have opted to sell their products on consignment – an option where they set the price, but customers check out at the central cashier.

Here is the list so far of what will be available on consignment this week: Produce will be available from Marks’ Farm, Needle Lane Farm, and Albers Orchard – maybe others including cauliflower, broccoli, apples, carrots, beets, potatoes, squash, leeks, onions, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, shallots, spinach, mixed greens, herbs, and more. Chicken, beef, pork, and eggs will be available from Mastodon Farm. Other farms including Brieland-Shoutlz Farm and Rocky Oaks Farm plan to sell meat if the freezer unit is up and going by Friday (it has arrived; just needs to be hooked up). Honey will be available from Macon Creek Honey.

On Friday Carosella Farms, Needle Lane Farm and Taylor Farm will be present selling directly to customers. Carosella Farms will be selling microgreens, dried pasta, onions, and garlic. Needle Lane Farm will be selling vegetable, flowers, herbs, plants, chicken eggs and duck eggs, mushrooms, and greens. (Needle Lane Farm will be selling in person on Friday and on consignment on Saturday.) Taylor Farm will have eggs, chicken, and beef.

On Saturday Brieland-Shoultz Farm, Taylor Farms, and Sweet and Salty Cookies will be selling directly to customers. Brieland-Shoultz Farm will be selling eggs, jam, sourdough bread, chicken, beef, and soap. Taylor Farms will again have eggs, chicken, and beef. And Sweet and Salty Cookies will be selling their awesome cookies.

Space is available for two more vendors to sell directly to customers on both Friday and Saturday.

Manchester Farmers Market manager Laura will be sending out an email and posting on Facebook an updated list on Wednesday or Thursday. If you want to get the email, let her know at farmersmarket48158@gmail.com. If you have been getting her emails all summer, you’ll continue to receive them. Also visit www.manchesterfarmmarket.com for information about the winter market.

Yes, wooden nickels from Community Resource Center will be accepted at the Winter Market!

A lot of people have been asking if there will be bananas and lemons, and of course, these are not grown locally. This has not been decided yet! Come on in the store during market hours and let us know what you’d like the winter market to have in the store or send us comments at 48158food@gmail.com

Acorn Farmers’ Market & Café is a non-profit (501c3) organization which is fund-raising to renovate this space in where the winter farmers market is being held early spring of 2020 and is serving as the fiscal agent for the winter market. For more information about the future Acorn Farmers’ Market & Café store, visit www.acornfarmersmarketcafe.org. There will be information and pictures at the market also.
