Sue LaRocque of River Raisin Antiques and Mercantile

submitted by Manchester Downtown Development Authority

The Downtown Development authority recently recognized River Raisin Antiques & Mercantile with a Beautification Award. The delightfully decorated window brightens the north side of the West Main Street business district. They carry a wide range of antique and vintage finds, as well as decor, gifts, toys, candles and so much more. Sue, the owner, is a retired Manchester teacher who developed a passion for finding and selling unique treasures. She scours lower Michigan for anything that catches her eye, and has turned this passion into a fun business.

In today’s trend of buying online, and with the loss of a few key Manchester businesses that bring people to town, Sue has felt the weight of declining sales. She will continue, however, to find ways to entice shoppers into her store and will ride the retail wave into better times. She is confident that better times for Manchester are in the near future.
