December filled with holiday cheer at Manchester District Library

December at the library begins with a sock drive in support of the Manchester Community Resource Center. Donations of new socks in all sizes and styles are welcome through Friday, December 20.

Later in the month, the Manchester Quilting Guild will refresh their display with quilts of the season. The library will also host a local art show and sale, with some unique gift ideas just in time for holiday shopping season.

On Thursday, December 12, we’ll offer Intro to Overdrive at 1 pm. Patrons can bring in a personal e-reader or other mobile device for hands-on help using their library card to access a huge collection of ebooks, digital audiobooks, and streaming video.

In celebration of our community, the MDL will host Patron Appreciation Day on Friday, December 20. Drop by anytime during regular hours (10 am-6 pm) for hot cocoa and cookies; the MDL staff would love to catch up as the year draws to a close.

Bring pillows and blankets to the library at noon on Saturday, December 21, and join us for a family holiday movie. We’ll show Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch (2018) on the big screen with popcorn and snacks provided.

Regular programming continues throughout the month with Tea Time (12/3), Beekeeping Club (12/16), and Computer Basics (12/26). Weekly events – Preschool Story Time (Wednesdays, 10:30 am) and Young Readers Book Club (Mondays, 4 pm) will only be held during the first three weeks of December due to the holidays.

On that note, the library will be closed December 24-25 and December 31-January 1. Everyone at the Manchester District Library wishes happy holidays and a peaceful new year to all of our patrons and the community!
