Dear Manchester,

David’s Coat Room was founded one year ago. It started as an idea to honor the memory of my father, David, of his giving spirit by helping those in need of warm coats in Winter. I could not have done this without the Community of Manchester.

I have been overwhelmed with the generosity of all, with the magnitude of FANFREAKINTASTIC donations. There have been times in this past year, where we would give two coats away and then receive a donation of five more coats!

I am pleased to report that with the help of the Manchester Mirror and word of mouth, we have been able to distribute the coats steadily. David’s Coat Room has supplied coats for the Community Resource Center, with the assistance of Laura Seyfried. I would also like to thank Jennifer Wojtowicz of the Shoppes at Alber Mill. This past weekend, we put up a coat rack on the mill porch, for anyone who needs a coat. Simply, if you need a coat take one. If you can’t find your size, let us know.

The donations have helped people in need, in our community as well as surrounding communities. This last week, we were able to send a trunk load of donations to kids in Pontiac schools as well as Detroit.

I do not think I have the words, written or spoken, to convey how very grateful and thankful I am to our community. All of you, have made a dream into a reality.

Sincerely,
Kim Blumenstein
