Obituary: Shirley Helen Gilmore
Shirley Helen Gilmore, 95, of Jackson, died on Monday, December 2, 2019 at Jackson County Medical Care Facility following surrounded by her family following a long illness.
Shirley was born on September 5, 1924 in Albion to Emil and Helen (Hakes) Tech. She graduated from Olivet High School in 1942.
Shirley retired 1988 from University Micro Films Incorporated a publishing company in Ann Arbor, after working for several years. She was a member of the Uncle Carl Dulcimer, played bass in the band “The Family Tradition”. Shirley enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and making teddy bears. She was an avid sports fan loved the Detroit Tigers.
She is survived by her children Rick (Rosie) Gilmore of Jackson, Doug (Gloria) Gilmore of Fayette, Ohio, Peggy (Ken) Parr of Manchester, and Elaine (Brad) Stegg of Adrian; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Barbara Borton of Jackson, Donald Tech of Battle Creek, and Mary LaFountian of Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Edwin Gilmore; and siblings James Tech, Virginia VanSickle, and Pauline Zuck.
A light luncheon and visitation will take place from 12-2pm on Friday December 6, 2019 at the Marshall Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Service 723 US 27 North with a funeral service celebrating her life will take place at 2pm with Pastor Gary Page officiating. Interment will follow at Cooks Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to Victory Baptist Church or to Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (https://msfocus.org/Donate.aspx).
