Kathy O’Mara and her classroom “Giving Tree” which collected household items and warm clothing for Manchester Family Service holiday shop recipients.

First-grade students in Mrs. Kathy O’Mara’s class learned about the joy of giving to others at the holidays, through their classroom’s own “Giving Tree” during the month of December.

Pupils collected mittens, scarves, hats, kitchen gadgets, hot pads, kitchen towels, socks, and slippers to give to Christmas recipients through Manchester Family Service (MFS). This was a project exclusively for O’Mara’s class and was a huge success for all involved!

In the wider scope of Klager Elementary School, an additional canned goods drive gathered about 400 food items to be donated to MFS. All groups housed at Klager participated in this effort, from preschoolers to second-grade. “What a great turnout,” O’Mara commented.

Thank you to all Klager kids, and especially to the first grade, for setting a wonderful example of community-mindedness during the holiday season.
