A previous year’s Crazy Ca$h event

Manchester Community Schools is planning the 21st Annual Crazy Ca$h night March 14th. This year the venue has been moved to the High School commons, as the space is larger than the Borek & Jennings Legacy Events Center. The shift of weekends from the first weekend of March to mid-March is to better coincide with events on the school calendar.

Former Manchester community Schools superintendent, Nick Steinmetz, headed up Crazy Ca$h last year, the first year the schools took the event over from the Kiwanis Club. Steinmetz will stay on to head up the event again this year. He explained the change in weekends, “Individual State wrestling finals are always the first weekend in March. Therefore, with the strong wrestling tradition that we have in Manchester, we wanted to ensure that we were not conflicting with these dates.”

Tickets to the fundraising reverse raffle event are on sale now at Andrews Family Chiropractic, Ash Auto, Steelegrafix, and the Village Tap and are $100 per couple. Only 200 tickets will be sold. A $50 coupon is included if you buy your ticket prior to January 15, 2020. The ticket is your entry into the raffle and includes dinner for two, catered by the school’s food service department. Although the school is an alcohol-free zone, the Board of Education approved a one-night waiver to host this event. It was mainly done to have a larger space to hold the event. No one under the age of 18 is allowed to attend.

The funds raised during last year’s Crazy Ca$h are going toward the FFA barn that is being built in the spring. Steinmetz stated, “There are no plans for the funds from this year yet. However, these funds are set aside for school groups to come to the [Board of Education] instead of fundraising in the community. We are trying to alleviate some of the financial pressure for the community.”

The school will put out a call moving forward for volunteers to help with the event, but are currently looking to form a committee to handle the volunteers.
