Edward “Ted” Curley, Jan. 7, 1935-Jan. 7, 2020.

Edward “Ted” “Papa” Curley passed away at 85 on January 7, 2020. He was born on January 7, 1935 to R.D and Rose (Tully) Curley in Manistique, MI. Ted married Betty Fink (love of his life) in Manchester, MI, celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary in June 2019. They had three wonderful children; Jill (Doug) Esch of Saline, Brian Curley of Ann Arbor, and Steven Curley of Manchester. Granddaughter Rachel Esch of Chicago, IL and Ian Curley of Manchester, MI. Sister Arlene Bush of Bay City, MI.

Ted was a registered professional surveyor; surveying all the state, federal, and interstate freeways in southeast Michigan during his 38 years with MDOT. Ted was very active in civic and service organizations, a village trustee, planning commission chairman, active member of Manchester’s 1967 100th centennial committee, and also co-chairman of the Manchester Chicken Broil take out department for twenty years.

Ted was an avid golfer, a thirty-year member of Inverness Golf Club in Chelsea, MI. He enjoyed his job as a starter at TPCC in Saline. He enjoyed all things golf, including his beloved trip to the Masters and several U.S Opens. Being 98.5% Irish, Ted was very proud of his Irish heritage and was happy to explore Ireland with his sister Arlene. For the last 32 years Ted and Betty have enjoyed a wonderful life at the lake, surrounded by family, friends, and their award-winning garden.

Ted’s family and friends will gather Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 10 am until 12 noon at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Manchester Chapel, where his Community Farewell will be held at 12:00 pm (Noon).
