Memorial Day Ceremonies at Wurster Park, 2014

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 situation and the possible extension of the Governor’s stay-at-home orders, the Manchester American Legion Post #117 has decided to cancel all activities related to Memorial Day for this year, according to Commander Les Koch.

“There will be no parade, no services at the bridge, park, or cemetery, and no potluck,” Koch said. “We are going to see if we can still put flags out at the local cemeteries, but no decision has been made on that as yet.”

The Memorial Day parade and its related activities has been a strong tradition in Manchester for many years, but like so many others in this year of apprehension and doubt, it will be postponed for another year.
