Signs of the times
“The Best Mom Lives Here,” sign seen on Mother’s Day.
Over the past several weeks, many yard signs have popped up around the community, along with messages chalked on the sidewalks throughout the village.
The messages of hope, support, and community have helped to buoy emotions during what has been a difficult nine weeks of isolation for many.
Designs and messages chalked on the sidewalks may not have lasted long during the rainy days we’ve experienced, but brightened the time they were there.
Signs acknowledging health care and other essential workers are seen throughout the community.
These lighthearted “Jedi” signs thanking essential workers were seen along City Road.
Major birthday milestones are being celebrated in the community during this time and people want to make sure their family members are recognized.
“My Teacher Misses Me!” signs are popping up all around town.
Teachers are also missed during the quarantine! Student Jackson Westcott made this for his teacher, Ms. Karin Villarreal. “He came and delivered it one morning and we talked for a long time from the curb,” said Villarreal. “I love this sign!”
