Too often recently, there have been piles of trash left at the Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority (WWRA) recycle bins as well as at the clothing recycling containers. All are located at the site of the former Manchester Market on West Main Street.

WWRA provides these bins as a service to the community and they are intended for use by residents of Manchester Township, who pay for the service via an annual tax assessment. The clothing collection bins are privately owned and can be used by all residents of the community.

Trash collection and curbside recycling are part of the services provided by Modern Waste for Village residents.

Recycling bins should not be used as a replacement for regular home pick up of trash. If this abuse continues, the bins could be removed permanently. Leaving these items and any trash in the bins or at the sites is considered ILLEGAL DUMPING and may be subject to a $1,000 fine.

For information about what is and is not acceptable at the recycling bins, visit the WWRA website
