On Monday, July 20, 2020, Manchester District Library will begin offering in-person service by appointment. With a 30-minute appointment, library visitors can browse the collection and check out material, or make use of the library’s copier, fax machine, or computer.

With the goal of providing the safest possible environment for all visitors and staff, MDL has introduced the following policies and guidelines:

  • An appointment is required to access library services inside the building. This allows library staff to keep total occupancy within recommended levels and provides time for appropriate cleaning of space and equipment after use.

  • Hand sanitizer, gloves, and facial tissue will be available for visitor use directly inside the library front entrance.

  • A mask or cloth face covering is mandatory to enter the building. This includes MDL staff and all visitors over the age of 2. If a mask cannot be medically tolerated, the MDL can provide alternative options; patrons should mention any accommodations needed when making their appointment.

  • Whenever possible, library visitors and staff should maintain a distance of 6 feet or more from others while in the library.

Patrons with hold items are encouraged to continue utilizing curbside service to help reduce foot traffic in the library. Appointments are not required for curbside pickup service. Patrons can simply call (734) 428-8045 from the parking lot; wait time is generally less than 5 minutes. Library staff will bring material to the patron’s vehicle and provide touchless delivery to the trunk or through the window. Photo ID may be requested.

MDL staff will begin taking appointments on a first-come, first-served basis on July 15, 2020. 30-minute appointments can be requested by phone at (734)428-8045 or by email at manchesterlibraryrequest@gmail.com.
