The CTPL staff would like to thank our community members for their patience during the shut-down. The wait is finally over! The library is open for business! Return the checked-out items that have been collecting dust on your TBR shelves, browse our books and movies, or use the computer. We just ask that all visitors adhere to the required social distancing and mask requirements. Have an underlying health condition or vulnerability? No problem! We will continue offering curbside pickup and no-touch returns indefinitely.

After being shut down for three months, the CTPL staff has been chomping at the bit, planning creative and educational in-person and virtual activities for community members of all ages. At last, we’re able to make those plans a reality. The library’s YouTube channel (https://tinyurl.com/CTPLYouTube) offers patrons a wide range of videos for your viewing pleasure, including basic quilting classes by Bonnie Peters, a presentation on dental hygiene by Adiska Family Dental, an online gardening class by local Master Gardener Sharon Sohoza, an entertaining and informative pet health presentation titled “Expecto Paw-tronum” by Jewel Pfaffroth with Beau’s Bridge Club Animal Rescue, and even a spooky “Local Legends around the Campfire”, featuring ghost stories about Clinton homes and businesses (presented by Norleen Hicks).

In-person weekly programs are being held outside on the lawn behind the library (bring your own blanket/chair/mask) and include preschool story time Wednesdays at 10 am, weekly crochet (and socializing) Thursdays at 6pm, and our new Dancing Beats story time Fridays at 10 am. We hope to see you there! A note: all in-person programs adhere to social distancing laws and recommendations.

That’s not all! Our Summer Reading program continues through July, with fun activities (such as our very popular virtual Harry Potter trivia night, Minute to Win It, and in-person photo scavenger hunts)! Participate in weekly challenges, grab to-go craft kits to make masterpieces at home, and win fabulous prizes. Adults and teens who read 5 books or participate in 5 events get to enter in a drawing of their choice. Prizes include a Kindle e-reader, movie and dinner gift packs, a handmade Star Wars clock, a coffee sampler that includes a mug and coupons to our Clinton Biggby Coffee, and a movie and ice cream gift pack. Children complete bingo cards to earn free books, Clinton Inn coupons, and Library Bucks that can be spent on terrific prizes, such as Lego sets. Children who complete all the bingo cards will be automatically entered in a final drawing for a grand prize.

Sound like fun? There’s still time to join in! The program ends August 1. Register online at the links below or in person at the library. A reminder: thanks to our generous sponsors all our summer reading events and programs are offered at no cost to anyone who wishes to participate.
