Letter to the Editor: Ashamed of Manchester over Pandemic Prom response
July 20, 2020
The COVID -19 Pandemic is turning many people into types of people that seem to forget what living free is all about. Do people think that the ones who ran this dance were idiots. All people with elderly at home needed to pass on the dance. All with symptoms were asked to pass. You had better chance of being infected going shopping than attending this dance because of the age group represented. These were not children but young adults. If this the year happened to be 1942, 1952, 1965 or 2002 they would be going off to risk their life’s in war. They are old enough to vote. I am ashamed of Manchester though. I am appalled that there are members of this community that threatened businesses that helped with this event. I am appalled that the newspaper pulled an extremely professionally written article about the event because of pressure from the woke mob.* I am appalled that many of my neighbors have the same views but are afraid to express them because of reprisals. I am appalled that in America Freedom of Speech and expression are paramount unless enough people yell loud enough to take them away. These graduates have had one of the worst senior years since 1918 and 1919. This was a chance for a little celebration and a small step back to normality. I am glad they had that chance. Of course, that is only my opinion. You are entitled to your own. That is what is great about living in a place like Manchester. People do not force their opinions on other residents. Let us all try to keep it that way.
