The Manchester Community School Board met briefly on Google Meet at 6 pm on Monday, August 10 with all members of the board present, and 25 members of the public in virtual attendance.

The bulk of the meeting was spent with new Superintendent Brad Bezeau explaining the Manchester Preparedness and Response Plan. The Board has been aiming for Phase 4 of the Michigan Safe Start Plan, which allows for a partial return to in-person classes. The district has collaborated with multiple departments, including the athletic and transportation departments, and reached all of the required safety protocols. Bezeau also explained the two options that have been developed for instruction: a plan of mixed in-person and virtual learning, and a wholly remote virtual-learning plan. On the final choice survey for return-to-school instruction, Bezeau said that a large percentage of the school community responded in favor of returning to school in person. The Board voted to approve the plan as presented.

Michael Tindall reminded the public that the Board is working within the guidelines and standards outlined by the governor. The board agreed in the necessity of flexibility for the coming school year, and that they will adjust their plans as needed with suggestions, guidelines, and requirements by the state.

The meeting adjourned at 6:17 p.m. after the board thanked Bezeau and the administration team who worked to complete the detailed Preparedness and Response Plan, and prepare for whatever the upcoming school year holds.

The next regularly scheduled School Board meeting will be held on Monday, August 17 over Google Meet; a link can be found on the School Board website.
