The Washtenaw County Road Commision (WCRC) will be doing gravel resurfacing and fog sealing in the Manchester area this week.

They will be doing gravel resurfacing in Freedom Township today and tomorrow. Schneider Road between Pleasant Lake Road and Ellsworth Road will have daytime closures today (Monday, August 31st) and Lima Center Road between Waters Road and Scio Church Road will have daytime closures tomorrow (Tuesday, September 1st).

WCRC will be doing preventive maintenance and fog sealing this week in all four townships. In Bridgewater Township, Clinton Road between Austin Road and the county line will have daytime closures. In Manchester Township, Watkins Road between Cash Road and Herman Road will have daytime closures as will Sharon Hollow Road between Austin Road and Sharon Valley Road (extending into Sharon Township). In Sharon Township, Pleasant Lake Road between M-52 and Schneider Road (extending into Freedom Township) will have intermittent lane closures.

What is fog seal? Fog seal is another thin layer of liquid asphalt placed on top of a recent chip seal that helps to seal in the chips and further protect the pavement. This work will be conducted under lane restrictions and all vehicles must stay off the fog seal while it cures. Curing time depends on several factors including weather. Once the fog seal has been completed, WCRC’s contractor will return to place permanent pavement markings in the coming weeks.
