Meet our new market managers at Acorn Farmers’ Market – Aileen Rohwer and Abby King. Both our market managers are very enthusiastic to be a part of the growth and development of Acorn Farmers’ Market.
As an 11-year resident of Manchester, Aileen Rohwer has been actively involved in the community through her work with Riverfolk Music and Arts. Although her professional background lies in music, there is a natural connection between music and growing food, since playing an instrument requires much the same preparation, patience, and constant care in order to reap the benefits. Her love of food and previous experience managing many different environments, brought her to consider working at the Acorn Farmers’ Market to also potentially sow connections to future community programs between Riverfolk and Acorn.
Abigail King shares, “I come to the Acorn Farmers’ Market from the Eisenhower Center Enrichment Center, a neurorehabilitation clinic located outside of Manchester. There, I am responsible for operating the facility’s three-acre produce farm, which serves as a supported employment environment for individuals undergoing therapies at the clinic for their traumatic brain injury.
“I am passionate about farming and local food access is extremely import to me, so I am very excited to join Acorn to improve the food system in Manchester and help support local farmers. It is a privilege to be part of this project and I can’t wait to see how it grows!
“When not working with veggies, I enjoy kayaking, mountain biking, mushroom hunting, hiking, cooking, and reading.”
Stop by Acorn Farmers’ Market to meet these lovely ladies and pick up some amazing local food and other products!
Acorn Farmers’ Market, located at 327 W. Main Street, is open Thursdays and Fridays from 3 – 6 pm and Saturdays 10 am – 4 pm.
