NOTICE OF ELECTION

To the qualified electors of:

BRIDGEWATER, FREEDOM, MANCHESTER AND SHARON TOWNSHIPS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE GENERAL ELECTION

WILL BE HELD ON:

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2020

Polls are open:

7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.

The Presidential Election is being held for the purpose of electing the following office candidates:

Presidential: President and Vice President of the United States

Congressional: Congress 7th district

Legislative: State Legislature 52nd district

State Board Offices: State Board of Education, Regent of the University of Michigan, Trustee of Michigan State University, Governor of Wayne State University

Washtenaw County Offices: Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, Clerk & Register of Deeds, Treasurer, Water Resources Commissioner, County Commissioner 3rd district

Township Offices: Supervisor, Clerk, Treasurer, Trustees

Judicial Offices: Justice of Supreme Court, Justice of Supreme Court (partial term ending 1/1/19) Incumbent position, Judge of Court of Appeals 3rd district Incumbent Position, Judge of Circuit Court 22nd Circuit Incumbent Position, Judge of District Court 14A district Incumbent Position

Community College Offices: Board of Trustees Member- Washtenaw Community College

Local School District Offices: Board Members- Chelsea, Clinton, Columbia, Dexter, Grass Lake, Manchester, Napoleon and Saline School Districts

ALSO to vote YES or NO on the following proposals:

State Proposals

A proposed constitutional amendment to allow money from oil and gas mining on state-owned lands to continue to be collected in state funds for land protection and creation and maintenance of parks, nature areas, and public recreation facilities; and to describe how money in those state funds can be spent.

Proposition to authorize the renewal and restoration of a 0.25-mill for the purpose of purchasing natural areas in order to preserve them, paying the costs of operating a land preservation program and paying the costs of maintaining the land purchased

Bridgewater Township Proposal

Shall Bridgewater Township impose an increase of up to 0.5 mills ($0.50 per $1,000 of taxable value) in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution and levy it for four (4) years, 2020 through 2023 inclusive, to maintain the township’s contracted fire services, which 0.5 mills increase will raise an estimated $50,762.58 in the first year the millage is levied.

Clinton Community Schools Operating Millage Renewal Proposal

This proposal will allow the school district to continue to levy the statutory rate of not to exceed 18 mills on all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, required for the school district to receive its revenue per pupil foundation allowance and renews millage that will expire with the 2020 tax levy.

Chelsea School District Operating Millage Renewal Proposal

This proposal will allow the school district to continue to levy the statutory rate of not to exceed 18 mills on all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, required for the school district to receive its revenue per pupil foundation allowance and renews millage that will expire with the 2020 tax levy.

Full text of the ballot proposal may be obtained at the Township office listed below or at www.mi.gov/vote.

Absentee ballots are available for all elections; registered voters may contact the local clerk to obtain an application for an absent voter ballot.

To comply with the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), voting instructions will be available in audio format and in Braille. Arrangements for obtaining the instructions in these alternative formats can be made by contacting the township clerk in advance of the election. All polling locations are accessible for voters with disabilities.
