Manchester boys’ youth basketball clinic starting up
The goal of this year’s youth clinic is to introduce young players to the fundamentals of basketball, through playing the game. “Students learn best and will get the most fulfillment through live basketball,” says Jake LaCross, youth program director.
Once fundamentals are learned, the boys will have an opportunity to practice in live games. LaCross will be assisted by MHS varsity and junior varsity coaching staff as well as high school players. “Our #1 goal is to get our boys playing 5 on 5 basketball,” LaCross added.
All boys, in third through sixth grade, are welcome to participate. The program will begin this Saturday, November 14, at Riverside School, 710 E. Main Street, from 9 am to noon, on November 14, 21, and 28, and December 5, 12, and 19. Fifth and sixth grade players will meet from 9 am to 10:30 am, while third and fourth-graders will meet from 10:30 am to noon.
The cost is $50 per player. Make checks payable to Manchester Athletic Department, with a memo notation of Boys Basketball. Checks can be brought to the first session, and all walk ups can join in at that time as well. You will need to complete a registration form upon entry. Registration can also be completed online. Check out the Facebook page @Manchester Youth Bball for a link to the registration site.
