WCSO: October 2020 police activity report in the village of Manchester

During the month of October, there were a total of 105 calls for service in Manchester Village. October 2019 calls for service totaled 141. During the month, 51 traffic stops were made (a six percent increase from October 2019), resulting in 21 citations (a decrease of 34% from October 2019, when there were 32 citations).

Noteworthy events in Manchester Village during last month include:

On October 8, a collaboration Deputy responded to 410 City Road (vacant school building) for a report of malicious damage to property. Unknown suspect(s) had thrown bricks through four windows on the south side of the building; however, entry to the building was not believed to be obtained by the suspect(s). School administrators were notified of the incident and subsequently secured the building. At this time, the suspect(s) are unknown, but according to a witness’ description of his observations of the incident, are believed to be three middle-school aged children.

On October 16, a collaboration Deputy responded to the 500 block of Emerald Glen Dr. for a report of damage to property. The caller indicated that unknown suspect(s) threw tomatoes at their new vinyl fence. It appeared the suspect(s) threw the tomatoes from the nearby roadway. No permanent damage was observed. At this time, it is unknown who the suspect(s) is and there were no known witnesses to the incident.

On October 17, a collaboration Deputy responded to the 300 block of Duncan St. for a report of a house fire. Upon arrival, the Deputy was able to successfully evacuate the home resulting in no injuries. At this time, the source of ignition is believed to be from an electrical problem. WCSO’s victim services unit was activated to provide resources to the family displaced by the damage.

One ordinance violation was investigated this month.
