The South and West Washtenaw Consortium has recommended Benjamin Polens, a senior at Chelsea High School and a second-year student in the SWWC Building Trades program, as the RoofManUSA and Greaves Family Building Trades Scholarship.

The Greaves family, from Manchester, has sponsored this $500 scholarship, which Ben will use toward tuition at Northern Michigan University, where he will major in Construction Trades, and also to obtain proper tools. Ben “feels he has found his calling in the trades,” and is very excited that the home he is helping to build through the Building Trades class, will go to a family in need through Habitat For Humanity.

The scholarship was presented to Ben last Wednesday at the SWWC site in Saline. Thank you to this local family-owned business for supporting the important work of the Consortium, which serves students in the Chelsea, Manchester, Dexter, Saline, and Milan districts.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
