To the Editor:

While driving South on M-52 going into town a few days ago, we spotted a car on the side of the road with smoke coming out of it. When we got closer, we saw that the engine was on fire, and quickly called 911. The Manchester Township Fire Department brought their engine, and parked it on the southbound lane. Cars traveling North on 52 would NOT slow down or move over for the fire engine, which could cause another accident or injure one of the firefighters on duty. One of the firemen stood out by the road to try and signal other cars to slow down as they drove past the firetruck.

Remember – THIS IS A LAW – slow down and move over for emergency vehicles, moving OR not. These firefighters are trying to help people, but drivers are NOT taking precautions to ensure the safety of those firefighters. Please take caution: slow down and move over if there is an emergency on the road.

Thank you,

Jacob Mann
