September events at the Manchester District Library
Submitted by Quintessa Gallinat, Manchester District Library
Events at the Manchester District Library are beginning to migrate indoors this month in preparation for colder weather. Some events are still being virtually or outdoors, so be sure to check the location on the MDL event calendar!
Student Headphone Drive — Ongoing through September 18, in support of Manchester Community Schools
Students use headphones for digital learning and standardized tests all year long. Help make sure that no child goes without this essential school supply by donating on-ear or over-ear style headphones at the library. MDL staff will get them into the right hands at Klager Elementary and Riverside Intermediate Schools.
Young Readers Book Club — Weekly on Mondays beginning September 13 4 pm (a virtual event)
Ms Angela hosts a weekly virtual book club for readers ages 7-10. See friends, discuss the latest chapter, talk about what you’re reading, and get book recommendations. Send an email to azahner@manchesterlibrary.info for the current book selection and details on how to join.
Outdoor Story Time — Weekly on Tuesdays beginning September 14, NEW TIME! 11:15 am Chi-Bro Park Pavilion
Don’t miss the last month of summer story time! Meet Miss Stacia at the Chi Bro Park Pavilion, rain or shine. Stories and activities are intended for preschoolers, but all are welcome. BYO blanket or lawn chairs.
Adult Book Club — Wednesday, September 15 at 7 pm, location TBD
Share your thoughts and impressions of Old Man’s War by John Scalzi. Copies of this month’s book and the complete 2021-2022 reading list are available both now and can be picked up on-demand from the library. Find out more about the MDL Adult Book Club and participate in online discussion on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/
Clay-O-Rama — Thursday, September 16 at 5 pm, at the MDL Teen Spot
Join Miss Stacia in the teen area for clay-o-rama, where the possibilities are endless! Tools and clay will be provided; however, you are welcome to bring your own crafting materials as well. Recommended for ages 12+.
Pet Parade — Saturday, September 25 starting at 1 pm, MDL back lawn
MDL staff will host a pet parade and party to celebrate the end of summer and beginning of fall. All ages are welcome.
In the event of inclement weather, outdoor programs may be cancelled, rescheduled, or switched to virtual. Check Facebook or call the library at (734) 428-8045 for updates.
