Letter to the editor: We need to show our loyalty
December 17, 2021
To the Editor:
The residents of Manchester waited a very long time before we got another food market in this town; and now, we have to show our appreciation and loyalty.
Since the Manchester Market opened earlier this year, I have heard a few people grumbling about the high prices they have found at the market. Well, dah! It goes without saying that this market’s prices are bound to be higher than the Meijers and Walmarts of the world. There is no way a small market, like this, can compete with the high volume prices that these big box stores can provide.
BUT, what this Manchester Market can provide is convenience! How much value do you place in your time? By the time you drive to Ann Arbor, Jackson, Chelsea or Tecumseh, how much gas money have you spent; and how much time has it taken you to drive there? Has that made up for the lower prices? Don’t know about you; but I am willing to pay the higher price for some items, just for the convenience. How about you?
