submitted by Quintessa Gallinat, Manchester District Library
Manchester District Library (MDL) will offer a variety of events and activities for all ages during January.
MDL Board of Trustees Meeting will be held Thursday, January 6 at 7 pm in the Village Council Chambers. The Manchester District Library Board of Trustees is an all-volunteer governing body made up of two members from each of the library’s participating service areas: Manchester Village, Manchester Township, Bridgewater Township, and Freedom Township. Trustees create and oversee library policies, administer the budget, and set the strategic plan. Members of the public are welcome to attend the monthly meetings.
On Thursday, January 13, the MDL will hold a virtual program on Facebook: DIY Giant Snowflakes. Grab a craft bag from the library early in the week and join us on Facebook to learn how to make giant paper snowflakes.
Tuesday, January 18 at 4:30 pm, a live program at MDL, DIY Hot Cocoa Bombs, will educate and entertain you! With a special guest from Mitten Made Pastries, learn how to make your own hot cocoa bombs. Registration is required; call (734) 428-8045 to claim your spot.
Adult Book Club will meet Wednesday, January 19 at 7 pm in the Village Room. Join other members in discussion of the historical fiction of Marie Benedict; read one or several of the available titles. Copies of Benedict’s books and the complete 2021-22 reading list are both available now and can be picked up on-demand from the library.
Watercolor and Salt Snowflakes will be on the agenda on Saturday, January 22 at 11 am in the MDL Youth Area. Join us for a craft project at the library. Recommended for ages 5-12, but all are welcome.
Recurring programs include Story Time, held weekly at 11:15 am on Tuesdays in the MDL Youth Area. Join Miss Stacia for stories, songs, and activities, recommended for ages 3 to 8.
The Tech Help Desk is “open” weekly on Thursdays from noon-5 pm, by appointment. Get hands-on help with technology of all kinds with a 30-minute help desk session, available by appointment. Bring your own device or use one of the library’s computers and get assistance with hardware, software, apps, online accounts, and more. Call (734) 428-8045 or email manchesterlibraryrequest@
