The month of March is traditionally March is Reading Month and Luther C. Klager Elementary School continues to celebrate it with a variety of fun reading events. Last week Manchester High School football players were featured readers!

Klager principal Karin Villarreal explained that long ago their then media clerk, Muriel Dority, brought in high school students to read stories during the library times in place of Mrs. Dority reading. She stated, “We loved having former students in the building and having them share about their learning adventures.”

Fast forward to this year and Ally Kristensen, Klager’s March is Reading Month coordinator, worked with High School football coach Ben Pack to bring back the readers during the month. Under the current high school schedule, students have an advisory period on Wednesdays, that would provide the perfect opportunity.

Villarreal stated, “This week he brought several football players. The students were so excited to see this group of guys walking in the building and then coming into their classrooms. The high school students who came were so attentive to the Klager friends. Mr. Pack was so generous with his excitement to be in our building and watch our students’ responses. He promises to bring back another group from the football team next week.”

This year’s theme for March is Reading month is “the Great Reading Adventure.” Classrooms are reading stories from the seven continents. There are other special guests slated to read at Klager this month as well, including, Superintendent Dr. Bezeau, State Representative Donna Lasinski, and Author Kimeberly Norman. They will also have mystery readers coming to different classrooms throughout the month.
