Obituary: William D. Martin

William D. “Bill” Martin (May 20, 1939 — April 6, 2022)

William “Bill” David Martin, Jr., born May 20, 1939, passed away April 6, 2022.

Bill retired after 33 years with General Motors Co., served in the National Guard, and was a Past Master of Masonic Lodge No. 148 in Manchester, MI.

He and his wife, Kathryn, were members of the Jackson area Boot Scooters Dance Club. Bill loved music and for 20 years he was lead singer and guitarist for the band, The Researchers. When he wasn’t singing or humming a tune; Bill had a spring in his step and a coffee in hand.

Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathryn (Knapp) Martin, and their two children; Pam (Jeff) Wallace and Brian Martin; two grandchildren, Alexander (Trisha Dworchak) Wallace and Spencer Wallace; brother, Robert Martin and several nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, William D. and Clara E. Martin, Sr.; sisters, Eilene Debelak and Sharon Crysler; and brother, Ronald Martin.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, April 22 at Bethel United Church of Christ, Manchester MI, from 10 to 11 am with the funeral service to follow.
