Chef Keegan Rodgers graduated the Culinary Baking and Pastry Arts Program with Honors from Schoolcraft College. He also earned accreditation through the American Culinary Federation. Shortly after this, he achieved his Bachelor’s Degree in Business with an emphasis on Small Business and Entrepreneurship in preparation for opening a bakery. In June 2017, he purchased an old bakery in the Waterloo State Recreation Area in Chelsea. A lot of TLC was needed to update and renovate the space — but with the help of family, friends, and the best neighbors in the world, they restored and refurbished it, and The Lakehouse Bakery became a reality!

The Lakehouse Bakery provides the community with fresh, quality baked goods, wholesome savory treats, and grocery staples sourced from ingredients here in Michigan and delivered fresh several days every week straight to Acorn. You can stop in any day for a variety of fresh baked goods to go with your freshly brewed coffee or latte at our café!

Chef Keegan also teaches cooking and food education classes where you can learn a variety of skills, tips, and tricks to make goodies at home, here at Acorn Farmers’ Market & Café once every month.

The next class hosted at Acorn is next Saturday, April 23, at 2pm, in which Chef Keegan will teach us all about Incredible Eggs. There is no cost for this event, but donations to Acorn Farmers’ Market & Café are much appreciated. Please pre-register by emailing farmersmarket48158@gmail.com
