The success of the annual canoe race is always dependent upon those dedicated folks who help clear the river ahead of time. Pictured are a few of the 2021 volunteers. More volunteers are always welcomed.

The committee who takes care of cleaning up the River Raisin for the upcoming annual Canoe and Kayak Race on May 15 is looking for a number of volunteers to clean the river on May 7, starting at 9am.

If you would like to help with the cleanup, the group is looking for two-man crews — each crew should have a chain saw and a row boat or canoe. The river can be split into sections so that it can be cleared in a couple of hours.

Those interested in helping will meet at Jim Mann’s home at 19830 Sharon Valley Rd. at 9am on May 7. Any questions, please call Jim Mann at 734.645.7481.
