After two years, the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau was happy to be back “in person“ at Project RED (Rural Education Days) April 19–21.

This event, held at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, features a three-day parade of school buses filled with third graders from across the county with a purpose of educating them about agriculture and natural resources, particularly around Michigan. A total of nearly 2,000 students, teachers, and parents from all over the county was able to participate this year.

This activity is sponsored by Washtenaw County MSU Extension, the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau, and the Washtenaw Farm Council, with support and partnership from many agricultural organizations, agribusinesses, and individuals.

Following are just some of the Manchester Farm Bureau members and students who participated in the week’s events:

Manchester FFA students helped inform the third graders about what they were seeing throughout their tour.

Seeing all the large farm equipment was an exciting part of the day for some of the kids. Combine provided courtesy Schaible Farms.
