Legion Auxiliary seeks support

Once a year, the American Legion Auxiliary seeks donations from its friends for poppies, the memorial flower of the American Legion and Auxiliary.

In years past, the Legion and Auxiliary members stood at various locations throughout the village and asked for donations. For the past two years, due to Covid concerns, they have not done so. This year again, the Auxiliary will not be on the streets, but the organization continues its support for veterans and their families — both here locally and wherever is needed.

“Please remember the sacrifice that our servicemen and -women made for America by donating to our Poppy Program,“ asks the Auxiliary. “The memorial poppy is not only a personal tribute to those who gave their lives for our country, but it also honors our living veterans.“

They emphasize that all funds derived from poppy donations are used exclusively for rehabilitation of veterans and assistance to their families. To continue this support, they are asking for the community’s help. Again, this year, the Auxiliary is doing a mail and social media program to solicit donations.
