Donald Cottrell (September 20, 1931 – June 16, 2022)

Donald Cottrell, 90, of Manchester, formerly of Buffalo, New York, passed away June 16, 2022, at Chelsea Retirement Community, surrounded by family.  Donald’s family and friends will gather Tuesday, June 21, 2022, from 5pm – 8pm at Eineder Funeral Homes – Manchester Chapel. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 11am, with visitation at 10am at St Mary Roman Catholic Church, 210 W Main Street, Manchester with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Manchester.  Father Peter Clark will serve as celebrant.

He was born on September 20, 1931, in Buffalo, New York to Frank and Martha (Woelfle) Cottrell. Don married the love of his life, Catherine Misiak, in 1957 in Evans, New York. He will be remembered as a charismatic, loving, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  Don served in the United States Navy from 1952-1954. He loved playing baseball and even tried out for the minor league, but decided to go to work and start a family.  Don retired from Ford Motor Company after 42 years of service.  He was a Stamping Division Manager for seven Ford Plants, he stayed on as a consultant after his retirement.  After retirement he found his great passion as a farmer, and loved spending time on his tractor.  Don’s family was his proudest achievement, with six children who always felt incredibly loved and cared for.  Don especially loved Christmas, when he played Santa Claus and he continued this tradition over 50 years.  

Don will be missed by his wife, Catherine; his children, Cindy Cottrell of Manchester, Bill (Lynn) Cottrell of Munith, Kathleen (Paul) Edds of Grand Blanc, Diane (Chuck) Schultz of Manchester, Patty (Bill) Miller of Cumming GA, and Nancy (Jeff) Hanselman of Chelsea;  grandchildren Jane Cottrell, Joshua (Samantha) Cottrell, Katlin (Joe) Brisbois, Bill (Jessica) Edds, PJ (Farah) Edds, Rosemary Edds, Mitchell (Isabella) Edds, Catherine, Emily and Andrew Schultz, Joseph Walkowe and Alex (Shaylee) Cottrell, Christian (Taylor) Hanselman and Julia Hanselman; great grandchildren Wren Brisbois, Mabel, Daisy and Hattie Edds, Amelle and Idris Edds, Stella Edds, Porter and Mila Edds, Cedar and Soleil Hanselman; Brother-in-law Ted (Barbara)Misiak, and sister-in-law Elsie Misiak.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Eugene Misiak.
