WCSO — May 2022 report of police services in the village
During the month of May there were 176 calls for service. During this time 67 traffic stops were made, resulting in 29 citations.
Noteworthy events in Manchester Village during last month include:
On May 3, a Collaboration Deputy was dispatched to Chi-Bro Park for a Malicious Destruction of Property incident. An unknown suspect(s) had damaged the library’s book-sharing shelter. There were no witnesses to the incident and at this time it is unknown who damaged the structure.
On May 10, a Collaboration Deputy was dispatched to the Duncan Street bridge for a report of graffiti. An unknown suspect(s) spray painted graffiti on the underside of the bridge, nearest the west abutment. Also on May 10, a Collaboration Deputy was dispatched to Chi-Bro Park for a Malicious Destruction of Property. An unknown suspect(s) spray painted trees and disturbed the future tee boxes for the disc golf course that is in its preliminary stages of construction.
On May 13, a Collaboration Deputy was dispatched to the area of Riverside and Beaufort for a traffic crash. The driver of a boom crane truck was traveling north on Riverside with the boom still extended, resulting in multiple power, phone, and utility lines being damaged, along with telephone poles.
On May 18, a Collaboration Deputy was dispatched to the 200 block of N Union St for a Malicious Destruction of Property incident. The complainant discovered his car had several lewd scratches in the paint. The complainant did not know who committed this crime and there were no witnesses.
On May 19, a Collaboration Deputy was dispatched to the 100 block of Adrian for a Larceny. The complainant reported multiple electrical meters stolen from his building. Surveillance footage was obtained of the incident, but it could not provide any leads into who/whom was responsible for the theft.
Deputies also investigated 15 Ordinance Violations in May:
Three parking citations were issued: in the 500 block of Territorial; on the corner of Washington and Main Streets; and at the corner of Main and Clinton Streets.
Twelve residences were tagged for violations on overgrown grass. Ten were corrected and two were still pending at the time of report. Corrected: 200 block of N Union; 100 block of W Madison; 100 block of E Duncan; 900 block of City; 500 block of Territorial; 300 block of S. Macomb; 300 block of Schaffer; 200 block of Hibbard; 200 block of Division; 700 block of E. Vernon. Violations Pending: 300 block of Ann Arbor; 400 block of Adrian.
The Sheriff’s Office has recently implemented a new, online police reporting portal. Citizens can now file certain types of police reports online without needing contact with a Deputy or to go to a station. The following types of incidents may be filed online:
• Harassing phone calls/No Known Suspects
• Identity Theft/No Known Suspects
• Lost property
• Larceny/Theft/No Known Suspects
• Damaged Property/Vandalism
• Accidental/Non-Intentional Property Damage
