Manchester United Methodist Church Debt-Free Celebration
submitted by Dillon Burns, pastor Manchester United Methodist Church
On Sunday, July 3 from 5-7 pm, Manchester United Methodist Church is celebrating being debt-free with an outdoor picnic! The community is invited to attend and enjoy the food, desserts, yard games, and a short mortgage burning service.
The Manchester United Methodist Church has been a part of the Manchester community for 190 years, beginning in 1831 as a preaching location on a pastor’s four-week circuit of 27 worship locations. The Manchester Methodist Church was quickly formed and moved through a series of buildings including one on Main Street before eventually constructing their current building in 1972. Ever since, the Ann Arbor Street church has been a place for vibrant worship, study, and service, and a community space for various local groups and organizations.
In 2011, the church building was enlarged to expand educational space and provide increased accessibility by installing an elevator. The addition has been an asset in the church’s ministry for more than a decade and was fully paid off ahead of schedule in June of this year, thanks to years of faithful and generous contributions.
Manchester United Methodist Church congregation is proud to be a continuing part of the Manchester community, in service to and alongside their neighbors. They remain committed to ensuring their church is a place of love, generosity, and compassion. As Pastor Dillon said, “We are blessed to be a blessing.” They look forward to celebrating this milestone and this new season in ministry with the Manchester community on July 3.
