Paul Whelan can receive mail again — for now

The Whelan family learned on Friday that Paul Whelan can once again receive mail (no parcels) through the Washington, D.C., channels via the Consulate. No mail or parcels can be delivered to Mordovia at this time. Sending mail to the D.C. address will eventually reach the U.S. Moscow Embassy, and they will make sure that Paul receives the mail.

Obviously, this is still a slow and tedious process and mail may not be delivered promptly. And no one is sure how long this channel will remain open, so those who wish to write to Paul are encouraged to do so soon.

“Any amount of chatty news of what’s happening here will be welcome!“ according to the Free Paul Whelan Facebook Page. “He needs to know we are still here for him, still supporting him, and (that) no one has forgotten what is going on.”
