To the person who wrote [the letter] about Manchester’s Fireworks in last week’s Manchester Mirror,

Fireworks are known to be shot off either on the 4th of July or the day before or after. As a rule in each town, there is a designated spot where this takes place, and as a rule the villages or cities have approved of that spot. If you feel that fireworks are a problem to you, maybe [you should have] checked into where Manchester shoots off the fireworks (that have been shot off there for more years than I can count) and you should have chosen a different place to live.

I was born and raised in this wonderful village for 65 years and have no plans of leaving. I think it is a wonderful contribution that our town shoots off fireworks for all of us to enjoy and to celebrate the real reason of the 4th of July. A big thanks to our dedicated Manchester Men’s Club, not only for their wonderful display of the fireworks but for all that they do for our great community.

I have a mother who lives in the Woodhill Senior Apartments and she truly enjoys watching the fireworks from her own living room without having to leave the comforts of her home. Also, she still enjoys watching her birds, the squirrels, and the deer; they have not left the area due to the fireworks.

I know it is hard to please everybody, but maybe doing some of your own research would have helped you in choosing the location of where you live.

Thank you,
DeAnn Jose
