August’s Third Thursday features “cruise night“
by Marsha Chartrand
Are you looking for something fun to do this Thursday afternoon, August 18? From 5pm to 8pm, join your friends and neighbors — including those friends and neighbors you haven’t met yet — downtown on Adrian Street at the Third Thursday event, which will include live music and entertainment, vendors, hayrides, kids’ activities, shopping, and food from local eateries. And … there will be a car show!
Many local businesses will have their doors open later on Thursday to accommodate the crowds. Among them will be Dance With Heart Studios, which will feature an open registration and performance at the studio at 6pm. Stop by and see what they have to offer. The Historical Society K-J House Museum and Blacksmith Shop will also be open during the Third Thursday event. Other businesses that will be open include River Raisin Mercantile, Sassy Peacock, Worth Repeating, All Thingz Green, and more.
Of course, Manchester’s downtown eateries will welcome your business, with Frank’s Place, Ollie’s, Over the Edge, the Village Tap, Manchester Diner, and Sweet Leilani’s all offering their specialties. And just a short walk west on Main Street will take you to the Manchester Market, where you can get a quick bite or a full meal to go, and the River Raisin Distillery, where there’s always something happening!
Live music from Nick Jake at 5pm, Nathan Sweet at 6pm, and Cooper Young at 7pm will be augmented by performances by belly dancer Shannon Seidelman, balloon artist Bennett’s Balloons at 5:30pm, and a hula hoop performance by Nat Spinz at 6:30pm.
An informal car show will be held on Adrian Street between Duncan and Ockrow. Just pull in and park your cool car to show it off! All are welcome. No pre-registration is necessary. Enter off Duncan Street, please.
There will also be crafters and small businesses represented in booths on Adrian Street, kids’ activities in the alleyway between Comerica Bank and Dance With Heart, and hayrides stopping at the corner of Main and Adrian every 10–15 minutes. Stop by the Chamber of Commerce booth to say hello and learn more about what the all-new Chamber is doing in the Manchester community!
There is something for everyone to enjoy at Third Thursday events. Come and see what it is that you will enjoy!
