While there will be multiple contested races on the ballot in November, the only Manchester area local contested election is the race for the three seats on the Manchester Community Schools board of education, and has six candidates running. In addition to two incumbents, Michael Tindall and Rebecca Harvey, Julie Lutton, Sandra Witala, James Stewart and Eric Coval will appear on the ballot. The Manchester Community Schools Foundation (MCSF) is holding a public school board candidate forum on Sunday, October 2 from 6 to 7:30 pm, in the Manchester Jr/Sr High School, located at 20500 Dutch Drive. Members of the public who attend in person will be able to submit questions to be asked by the moderator during the forum.

MCSF member, Theresa Herron, will be moderating. She explained, “This is an opportunity for the candidates to present themselves and give their views and opinions so that voters in Manchester can make an informed decision on Election Day. School Board trustees make important decisions and set policies that affect not just our school district but ultimately our community and even our property values.” So far, Witala, Stewart, Tindall, and Harvey have all committed to attend. Coval won’t be attending because of a prior engagement.

MCSF, the organization hosting the forum, is a nonpartisan, 501c3 non-profit established to enhance the educational opportunities for Manchester Community School (MCS) students by providing funding for special projects beyond the resources of the district through mini-grants to teachers for special projects, programs, technology and software.

Come find out more about the community members running for these important positions! Herron added, “As a voter and MCS staff member I’m interested in finding out more about the candidates, and I know other people in the community are as well.”
