Both the Manchester Jr/Sr High School Student Council and the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) are working hard to make it a memorable homecoming week, both for students and community members this year with multiple activities and events in the week leading up to the Varsity home football game on Friday, September 30 at 7pm against Michigan Center.

High school students will have a spirit week organized by the student council beginning Monday, September 26 with Pajama Day, then USA Day on Tuesday, Neon Day on Wednesday, Jersey/Team Day on Thursday, and Dutch Day on Friday.

Multiple sports will have home games that week with the 7th/8th grade Volleyball teams playing at 4:30pm at Riverside Intermediate School on Monday September 26; Cross Country has a home meet on Tuesday, September 27; the Homecoming Powder Puff Game featuring Junior girls against the Senior girls will take place on Wednesday, September 28 at 7pm; and Boys Varsity Soccer team will play their Pink Out Breast Cancer Awareness Game at 5:30pm on Thursday, September 29, followed by the Girls Varsity Volleyball team playing at 6:30pm.

The PTSA also will be bringing back an event from the past. The Pandemonium Homecoming Celebration for Manchester’s 7th-12th grade students will be held on Thursday, September 29, from 8 to 10pm. The event will be free to attend and held on Alumni Field. Students will check-in at the main gate by grade at 7:30pm, with the event beginning at 8pm. The event will feature games with each grade competing against each other. Around 8:40pm a bonfire will be lit (and monitored by the Manchester Fire Department). Coach Pack will speak and get everyone pumped up for the upcoming football game against Michigan Center. The PTSA is inviting all Jr/Sr High coaches to come and stand near Coach Pack, in order to help celebrate all sports teams that are playing this fall. Pandemonium ends at 10pm. Concessions will be open throughout the event. Superintendent, Dr. Brad Bezeau, will serve as emcee.

On Friday, September 30, Jr/Sr high school students will have a pep rally during the school day.

The PTSA is bringing back the homecoming parade, as well this year, on Friday September 30. The route will begin at Emanuel church, located at 324 West Main Street. Line up is behind the church in the parking lot at 4pm. The parade will start at 4:30pm from the parking lot. The (current plan for the) parade route is east along Main Street from Emanuel, through the four-way stop intersection to Woodland Way, then north on Woodland Way to Dutch Drive, and south on Dutch Drive to the Klager bus loop, ending up at the football field. The community is invited to come out and watch the parade, or even participate in it! Both walking and vehicles/floats are permitted. Candy-tossing is encouraged as that is a big hit with the kids.

Currently the PTSA is looking for six families with a truck and/or trailer they could lend for the 7th-12th grade floats. All 7th-12th grade students are invited to come decorate the floats before the parade. Adult volunteers are needed along the parade route and a sign-up sheet will be shared with the community shortly. Questions? Please contact Angie Fuller at Punkin_angie@hotmail.com.

Beginning at 5pm Manchester United Methodist Church located at 501 Ann Arbor Street, will be holding a Burger Night in their parking lot.

After the parade, at 5:15pm on Friday, September 30, there will be a Manchester Alumni Football Game on the football field. Are you a football alum? This is your chance to take the field again! If you are interested in playing, please contact Shane Goodell at Shane.Goodell@gmail.com, or text 734-625-4029.

At 7pm on Friday, September 30, the Varsity Football game will kick off against Michigan Center.

At 8pm on Friday the 30th, the homecoming dance sponsored by the student council will begin in the High School commons. Admission is $10 and the dance has a causal dress code. The dance runs through 11:30pm.
