Manchester Jr/Sr High School

Due to a water/sewer block, school was cancelled around 1:30 pm at the Jr/Sr High School for the remainder of the day on Thursday, Sept. 15. Students who could self-transport or be picked up by parents were released from school immediately. Bus students were transported at regularly scheduled times and were offered supervision, bathroom access, and bottled water in an unaffected part of the building.

Only the Jr/Sr High School was affected by this issue; Klager and Riverside students completed their regular school day. As it was anticipated that the issue could be repaired that day, all home athletic events (men’s soccer) went on as scheduled that evening.

“What we originally thought had been a water/sewage line break, turned out to be just a block in a line,” said Superintendent Brad Bezeau. “It was not due to vandalism, but just usage in that area. Building and Grounds Director, Bryan Houttekier and his entire team did a fantastic job in isolating the issue and addressing this for our return to school on Friday, Sept. 16.”

Once cleared and addressed, Bezeau sent a message to the school community that the blockage had been cleared and addressed, and thanked the Building and Grounds Team “for their quick work in identifying the issue and cleaning and disinfecting all affected areas,” allowing school to reopen on schedule the next day.
