Do you have a prom dress to donate and are wondering where to donate it?

For years the Manchester Ladies Society accepted prom dress donations at the Manchester District Library, which they would give away at their annual Free Prom Dress Boutique. Unfortunately, Covid halted that event in 2020. While it could be restarted at this point, because of the lack of permanent storage space and the burden of storing hundreds of formal dresses 365 days a year, the organization has decided to discontinue the project.

You can still donate your prom dresses to a free prom dress project called “Gowns for Good,” which holds a free prom dress shop for area high school students in the spring on U of M’s campus. Email MDOLINSK@UMICH.EDU for more information. This is the organization to which the remaining prom dresses that didn’t get selected at the last local Free Prom Dress Boutique in 2019 were donated.

Want to keep the dresses right here in the Village? You can also donate them at Worth Repeating, Manchester’s charity resale shop located at 110 E Main St. All of the money raised from the sale will stay in our community. Worth Repeating accepts donations any time they are open, which is Wednesdays, 10am–2pm; Thursdays, 2pm—6pm; Fridays, 10am–2pm; and Saturdays, 10am–2pm.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
