Mary Alice (Lannom) Korican, of Manchester, MI, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 22, 2022. She was born in Mrs. Gumper’s Private Hospital in Manchester, MI, on December 12, 1937, to Walda (Timmerman) and Roscoe Lannom. She attended Michigan State University and graduated with a teaching degree in 1957. On August 12, 1961, she married John Thomas Korican and resided in Manchester where they dedicated their lives to teaching.

Mary loved the thousands of children she worked with in Michigan Public Schools for 37 years before retiring and taking up her second job, helping to watch her grandchildren, the lights of her life. She was a lifelong member of Emanuel United Church of Christ. She enjoyed singing in the choir, serving on the church council, working vacation bible school, and cooking for the church’s food trailer at the Manchester fair, church dinners, and funeral luncheons. She loved playing the piano and playing bridge, where she was highly competitive.

She is survived by her husband, John Korican; her son, John (Carrie) Korican; her grandchildren Jacob Korican and Samuel Korican; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Trolz) Lannom; step-sister, Christine (Ron) Taylor; and several nieces and nephews who were dear to her. Mary was preceded in death by her loving “Granny” Anna Timmerman; her parents; her two brothers, Ronald Roscoe and Thomas Michael Lannom; and her best friend/sister, June (Lannom) Turnbull.

Mary’s family will gather Friday, October 28, 2022, from 10am to 11am at Emanuel United Church of Christ, 324 W Main St, Manchester. Her funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 11:30am. Rev. David Bucholtz will serve as celebrant.
