2022 Halloween activities in the Village
by Sara Swanson
Trick-or-treating in the Village of Manchester will run as usual from 5pm to 7pm on Halloween evening, which this year falls on Monday, October 31.
Also, as usual, there are quite a few fun Halloween activities scheduled for the 5pm to 7pm time slot in Wurster Park on Main Street. In a long-standing Manchester tradition, the Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce with the help of Library board members and Manchester High School students, will be handing out free caramel apples in the gazebo. The Lions Club will be hosting pumpkin bowling. The Manchester District Library and Friends of the Library will be handing out free books and candy. Worth Repeating will be hosting a corn pond with buried surprises. Janet Larson from State Farm will be providing ghostly music. And the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department will be assisting with traffic flow.
If you stop by Emanuel Church located diagonally across the street from Wurster Park during trick-or-treating, you may find a new treat … the Fusilier family plans to make fresh doughnuts to hand out at the church.
Caramel apple organizer Kathy Dimond would like to thank Mike and Therese Bossory of Alber Orchard for donating 1,000 apples, Emanuel Church for the use of their kitchen for apple washing and caramel preparation, and Dr. and Mrs. Okey, who founded this event and helped it grow off of their front porch, for their continued support through caramel and other supplies as needed.
If you are looking for some pre-Halloween spooktacular fun, Community Bible Church located at 8400 Sharon Hollow Road is holding their 3rd Annual Trunk-or-treat on Wednesday, October 26 at 5pm, rain or shine. And Martinrea located at 706 Parr St will will be holding a trunk-or-treat for kids with candy and inflatables on Friday, October 28 from 4pm to 6pm.
