This Beaumont Rev Electric City Bike was raffled off by the Community Resource Center on Halloween

Halloween night in the Village of Manchester was full of excitement, hundreds of costumed beggars of all ages, fun activities, and plenty of tasty treats. From 5 to 7pm, the entire community was abuzz with a chorus of voices saying, “Hey, neighbor,“ “Happy Halloween!,“ “Trick or treat,“ and “Thank you.“ At 6:30pm, one junior marshmallow named Jackson was called upon to draw the winning ticket for the e-bike raffled by the Community Resource Center, Inc. Of the 345 tickets sold, and tumbled for at least an hour, the winner was Ticket #65.

Annie, owner of Ticket #65, grew up in and is still a resident of Manchester. After graduating from Manchester High School in 2015, she went on to graduate from EMU. Now her days are spent in Ann Arbor working with special needs students. An aspiring novelist, Annie’s spare time is spent writing … at least 1,000 words a day. She’s thrilled to have a new bike and actually plans to name it! Congratulations go to Annie!

The Manchester Community Resource Center, Inc. partnered with the Sharon Valley Bicycle Shoppe to raffle the e-bike in an effort to generate funds to replace those lost when the annual golf outing was canceled. Members of the community stepped up and the CRC realized $2,300 in revenue. Every cent of those dollars will go to provide programs and services to residents of the village and the four surrounding townships.

Since the CRC receives no financial support from the townships, it must rely on fundraising to cover the costs of serving their residents. (The village provides $3,000 a year in support.) The Community Resource Center is an equal opportunity provider. Residents of the four townships, as well as the village, are encouraged to turn to the CRC when a need arises by calling 734-428-7722.
