Veterans Day is this Friday — November 11, 2022. Veterans Day occurs on Nov. 11 each year in the United States in honor of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month“ of 1918 that signaled the end of World War I.

This holiday was previously known as Armistice Day, but in 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday to Veterans Day. Veterans Day, not to be confused with Memorial Day, is the day that we honor all of our nation’s Veterans. Memorial Day is set aside to remember those veterans who lost their lives in service to their country.

Klager students will be doing a program at Klager Elementary School (located at 405 Ann Arbor St) on Friday at 9:00 am; all are invited to attend. If you are a veteran or family member of a veteran, please contact Rita Huber or send information to the American Legion Auxiliary, P.O. Box 731, Manchester, MI. When you are there, please visit the wall of honor that has been created with photos of veterans connected to our Klager School community.

All local veterans are welcome to join Klager Elementary students to celebrate this special occasion and learn about those who have served our country. The event is free.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
