The Southern Michigan Hookrafters Guild is celebrating its 50th anniversary with special events each month. As part of our Anniversary Celebration, the Guild is exhibiting its members rugs at the Manchester District Library during the month of November.

A free class for those interested in learning the craft will be held on Sunday, November 27, at 1pm at the Manchester District Library, 912 City Rd. A simple coaster will be the make-and-take project with a $4 charge for supplies.

The Guild currently has 26 members from all over southern Michigan. It meets each month to share skills, encourage new practitioners in the craft, teach new techniques, and provide fellowship for some very creative people. The Southern Michigan Hookrafters Guild meets on the last Saturday of each month at Emanuel Church in Manchester. A business meeting begins at 11am, followed by a luncheon and a program involving woolen crafts. People interested in learning the craft of rug hooking are always welcome.

The Southern Michigan Rug Hookrafters began as the second guild in the network of National McGown Guilds in 1972. McGown Guilds promote the craft of rug hooking in the United States.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
