David E. Hoeft, May 16, 1926 – Nov. 28, 2022

David Edward Hoeft of Manchester, age 96, died Monday, November 28, 2022 at Cambrian Assisted Living in Tecumseh. He was born May 16, 1926 in Belleville, Michigan, the son of William Rudolph and Bertha Ann (Kromrie) Hoeft.

David graduated from Lincoln Consolidated High School in 1944. He farmed all of his life, including dairy from 1945-59. David worked at Ford Motor Company for 21 years in Rawsonville. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Farm Bureau, and served on the Sharon Township Board of Review from 1988-2000. David enjoyed turkey and deer hunting and family gatherings.

On July 2, 1949, he married Joyce Ramona Burmeister, and she survives. Other survivors include a son, Rodney (Judy) Hoeft of Manchester; a daughter, Linda (Lyle) Jacob of Williamsburg, OH; two brothers, Dan and Jim Hoeft; five grandchildren, Bryan (Sheila) Hoeft, Brent Hoeft, Melissa (Bob) Peoples, Lindsay (Kris) Peed, Lesley (Karl) Schaible; and 8 great-grandchildren Zachary and Lauren Hoeft; Zaden Peoples; Caroline and Catherine Peed; Evelyn, Emily, and Jacob Schaible. He was preceded in death by five brothers: Robert, Richard, Leslie, Louis, and Douglas Hoeft.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2022, 11am at Zion Lutheran Church, Chelsea, with Pastors Kurt Hutchens and David Bucholtz officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Rogers Corner. The family will receive friends at Cole Funeral Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 3-5 & 6-8 pm and at the church Friday from 10-11 am.Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 3050 S Fletcher Rd, Chelsea, MI 48118.
