Obituary: Gladys Vivian Uphaus

Gladys V. Uphaus (July 29, 1929 – November 28, 2022)

Gladys Uphaus of Manchester passed away at Henry Ford Hospice Home on Monday, November 28, 2022, surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her children, Elaine (Rob) Schaffer and DeAnn (David) Jose; siblings, Clifford (Pat Richards) Moore, Ross Moore, Marcella (John) Lucas, and C.J. (Faye) Moore; grandchildren, Derick (Ashley) Hanewald, Dara (Rick) Casey, and Devin Jose; great-grandchildren, Mia, EmmiLou, Alivia, Letty, and Greyson; grand-fur babies, Luci and Stuart; several nieces and nephews; and many church friends, past and present.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cordon and Phyllis Moore; husband, Ray Uphaus; siblings, Owen Moore and Colleen Swank; sisters-in-law, Sharon Moore and Linda Moore; brother-in-law, Dale Swank; and grand-fur baby, Heidi.

Gladys was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved cooking and baking, crossword puzzles, family gatherings, dancing, and sewing. She was very active in her church, where she helped prepare church dinners and was active in the United Methodist Women Lydia Circle and Christmas Bazaars.

Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will take place at a later date. Donations in Gladys’ honor may be made to the Manchester United Methodist Church or to the Dutchmen Fire Fighter’s Association.
